While pursuing recovery can feel scary at times, my hope is that through our sessions, you will come to understand how much God loves you and how valuable you are to Him. Your health matters, and taking steps toward mental health will not only help you, it will also improve your relationships.
My Goal as a Christian Counselor
My goal as your counselor is for you to feel empowered to face whatever challenges you may be facing, with God’s help. My desire is for you to experience the transforming hope and healing found in Christ, and for you to carry that hope with you into your day-to-day life to positively impact your relationships with others. I would be honored to serve as your advocate and counselor as you walk toward lasting change.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
As a faith-based therapist in Texas, I offer a welcoming space where you can release your burdens and find comfort and peace. Together we will determine the cause of your struggles and develop a personalized treatment plan to effectively deal with the challenges you’re facing. I will support you in your journey and encourage you to give the weight of your concerns to the Lord for Him to bear on your behalf. He says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
My Approach to Christian Counseling
No matter how you would describe your current relationship with God—close to Him, distant, or non-existent—I believe you are valuable to God and worth of His love. I also believe He is able to handle anything you give Him—even the most difficult situations imaginable. The light and hope found in Christ can penetrate even the darkest of nights, and His grace never runs out. The Lord is ready and willing to comfort you and give you His peace that passes understanding when you come to Him.
Qualifications & Experience
I have been counseling informally and professionally for the last 15 years. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Texas with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health from Midwestern State University, a Master of Arts in education and teaching from The University of Alabama, and a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary. I am also an ordained Presbyterian minister and provided pastoral care at a church for five years.
My Call to Christian Counseling
I’ve known since high school that I wanted to pursue a career in a helping profession. After grad school, I started teaching and realized that I particularly enjoyed helping students with their personal issues, which led me to pursue a calling in ministry. I also realized that I would need further training to help people heal and find hope. Now, as I work with individuals in a counseling relationship, I continue to see how this is my true calling and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to serve in this way.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
My husband and I have three young children, one of whom has severe special and medical needs. We love the water, the mountains, and anything outdoors. I also enjoy music, decorating, fashion, audio books, and trying new places to eat.
